    If I may, (as yet another Machead and local OS X Guru), make a
suggestion.

    The shareware programmes "PopChar Pro"(OS 9) and "PopChar X"(OS X) I
find invaluable for showing all the characters available in a font and the
keystroke combos needed to access them.
