Hi Akim!
   They came back in the 60s as "Bottle Caps" - same thing - fizzed like an
alka-seltzer tablet, and tasted (once it dissolved in water) like koolaid
made with seltzer water. It was much more fun to break off tiny pieces and
let them foam in your mouth - as long as the grown-ups didn't catch you. I
miss the root-beer flavoured ones...
