We could add our own -- between the honey and the berries?

Hail to the rapes
and the pasternakes too
Hail to the vegetables
in our stew......

Waiting for (the/any) vegetables? Betsy

we recently had a challenge to write a poem or song about feasting on
our
outlands-bardic list. thought you might enjoy this little peice.
note...
thanksgiving could be substituted for midwinter.

MIDWINTER FEAST

Hail to the stag, the noble beast
Guest of honor at our feast.
Hail to the red deer in the glade
>From the woods our bounty made.

Hail to the peacock, feathers bright,
Grace our table on this night.
Hail to the partridge, small and fleet
Tiny morsels tender, sweet.

Hail to the cow that gives us cream
Pouring in a silken stream.
Hail to the cheese upon our board
Pungent rounds, a kingly hoard.

Hail to the pig so pink and plump
To the champion, juicy rump.
Hail to the lamb so tender sweet
Shame it is to waste this meat!

Hail to the salmon in the stream
Join the lobster, dulse and bream.
Hail to the oysters in the sands
Caught and cooked by skillful hands.

Hail to the bee that honey makes
And to the brave man, honey takes.
Hail to the oats and all the corn
>From whose seed our bread is born.

Hail to the berry on the briar
Simm'ring sweet upon our fire
Hail to the apple on the tree
Wassail for our revelry.

Hail to the grapes upon the vine
Give their blood to make our wine
Hail to the hop and barley beer
Bring us laughter, joy and cheer

Hail to the feast Midwinter Night
Hail to the warming firelight
Hail to the feast about to be
Welcome friends and company.
