[Sca-cooks] Congrats Maire

Oh, the whole weekend was kinda strange. Court on Saturday night was
the funniest, oddest court I've ever sat in on. And me getting the bird
was all of a piece with the weirdness and hilarity of the whole night--I
was completely oblivious of things that would have clued-in someone who
was paying attention (like, all the Pels sitting up front, or the
crown's herald asking me earlier that day how I wanted to be announced
when I made my announcement (just plain "Mst Maire apparently wouldn't
do--he wanted *all* of my official names, and I've got a string of
gaelic half a mile long)*.
I had a few of the Pelicans tell me afterwards that it was the most fun
they'd had at a "peer-ing" (my phrase), so I guess I don't mind having
made a silly fool of myself. (okay, so, I'm telling on myself here...I'd
finished my announcement, which I'd badly butchered, and was heading
down the middle aisle to go back to my seat, and all of a sudden the
gentleman "escorting" me was steering me in front of the thrones, and I
looked up, and saw this crowd of Pelicans surrounding me, and the first
words out of my mouth at this solemn and important time were "oh, shit!"
and it was, apparently, outloud enough that folks in the "audience"
heard. And laughed. It was *that* kind of evening!)
Since I didn't get a vigil, or have time to make a pretty dress or
anything, I'm thinking of hosting a non-vigil vigil with another lady in
our barony who didn't get a vigil either, and has always wanted one.
We're thinking, maybe, next Uprising (held in June, it's the single
largest event in Artemisia). So I've got lots of time to plan the menu!
I'm thinking, maybe some illusion foods like Olwen does, and cormarye.
What kinds of nibbly, finger foods have other folks out there come up
with for vigils/parties at camping events? I would have some cooking
equipment on site, but nothing fancy (no ovens or anything).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
