[Sca-cooks] Dieting

Okay _ I think what I was doing was making a parallel assumption to the
statement that a pound of fat (lipids) at 9 cal/gm is 3600 (plus or
minus) calories. Thought that the carb assessment included the water-
apparently not..
 All is much clearer now..
Thanks everybody for your help.

no, the entire potato is NOT carb, there is a serious amount of water
[at 1 pint = 1 pound the world around...unless you are in europe and
using metric and the whole mnemonic thing sort of breaks down...]

sec while i rummage for the website

http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl
go here, type in potato and hit enter.

potatoes, russet, flesh and skin, baked
1 large [3" to 4 1 / 4" diameter, 299 grams
water - 222.606 grams
calories - 290.030
protein - 7.864
lipid - .389
carb - 64.106
fiber - 6.877
and more info that you ever needed to know=)

so as you see, most all of the potato weight is water, so there is no
flaw=)

unless you want to try to choke down 1 lb of deydrated potato flakes,
and eat what would be 10 lbs of potatoes in one sitting [blech]
