Was soaking some chicken in salt water a bit ago, in preparation for
packaging and freezing it, and since the regular salt vanished, I grabbed
the Kosher salt. Got to reading the box, and discovered that my family's
habit of salting the chicken before use was actually koshering it- never
knew that before. We've always done it because it makes it taste better-
gets all that nasty slaughtering plant taste and odor out of it. Wonder
where my mother picked up the habit?
