I would consider both of these to fall under the arts at least as it is
defined for the Laurel peerage.

Write up that research in articles and get it published where other
folks can make use of it. The Ansteorran A&S contests often have a
category for research papers. In fact, there was a perfect score given
to an entry in the recent Gulf Wars Arts and Sciences Contest. For a
paper about horsemanship and dressage in period.

Another place to get some visibility, as well as increase the Known
World knowledge of the arts is to get it online so that more than your
local group or your kingdom can read and learn from the research you
have done. And, I have just the site in mind for many such papers. :-)
For any papers submitted to the Florilegium, the author keeps the
copyright and I will accept updates at any time. Thus you can still
submit your paper to other places such as TI. Yes, there has been at
least one paper published in the Florilegium first and then in TI as
well as the reverse.

Mistress Nicolaa de Bracton of Leicester, who had a number of articles
published in the Florilegium before she got her Laurel has said that
she credits having her work published in the Florilegium and elsewhere
as helping to get the recognition that got her her Laurel. Of course
Mistress Nicolaa has gone on to do other things since then, like be
editor of TI and the Pennsic newspaper.
