Depending on where you are from, or rather, where your folks are from,
succet means different things. In period a succet was referring to candied
peel. In modern times a succet can mean anything from a lollypop to any
hard candy. The basic recipe for hard candy is water, sugar and corn syrup
or karo. Simmer till when you drop some into a glass of cool water and it
forms balls or strings that stiffen. Then you can either spoon it into
candy molds (you have to have the ones for hot stuff) or you can pour it out
onto a clean marble surface or you can put it into a micorwavable pan or
bowl, or however you like. Just make sure the kids and cats aren't around
cuz it sure is hot.
