6 months is a rule of thumb, but I'd use it as long as I was sure the power
hadn't gone out during that time period or anything like that.  Smell it,
and if it isn't funky, heat it to  a slow boil separately from the dish you
want to use it in, just to be safe and kill off any beasties.

Hey folks,
I have some frozen beef broth that I'd like to use in a recipe today.
According to the label on the container, I put it in the freezer on 1/24/04
and it
has remained frozen solid ever since.  Should it still be OK?  I put it in
the
fridge to start thawing last night.
