Now see...that narrows things down a bit.  I still suggest that you check out Stefan's Florilegium (www.florilegium.org) for ideas.  He has a number of sections that might help out...for example, there's an article by Adamantius on Carbonadoes, which is a period kind of barbequed meat!  I found it under "Food - Meat".
