We arrived on site well after dark, didn't make it to the potluck
dinner. But I did get to cook this Pennsic.

Wed I had a small part in a Siege cooking contest that one of the
merchants offered. A lady in our camp entered. My contributions
were mostly having brought a mortar and pestle, grinding some oats to
flour, and by loaning my feast gear. The entrants picked up a VERY
limited package of food and had to cook with those items and nothing
else but water and salt. This night was ground beef, Irish oats,
butter, sugar, a bit of whiskey, mozzarella, a cabbage, and a leek.
I didn't get to see the final presentation because I had promised
to...

Wed night I helped cook for the Biyari, a period Indian dinner. I
had a great time, but the lady who planned to cook didn't make it to
Pennsic, and there were a number of communication issues. The head
cook was expecting to use the kitchen tent, with its two burners, but
it wasn't available to us after all. That left three burners and two
of those broke.. down to one burner and an ambitious menu. They
scratched several items from the menu, someone scrounged up a couple
of replacement burners and things were going well.... Then it started
to rain...

Like I said, I had a great time, the food that I tasted was
wonderful, and I'm told that the participants weren't aware of the
kitchen issues.
