A "hot pot" with a large tin can...

When I first moved to Vt, the house we were purchasing fell through...instead of a week or two in a B&B ( the only hotel near my work) we ended up at 2 months...

I had my old college hot-pot...so I inverted a wide, empty, clean tin can (I believe it was from fruit) in the hot pot. When the hot pot was mostly filled with water and turned on, the can acted as a "burner"...this allowed me to make soup, scrambled eggs, and a few other things...not idea...but it worked.
