[Sca-cooks] Fire Question [oop]

Because all culinary knowlege is contained on this list... I want to 
know what is the stuff they use at the Japanese grilled 
dinner-and-a-show to make fire flare up on the griddle.  We went out for 
teppan yaki the other night and the cute-as-a-bug knife-slinging chef 
did the "onion volcano" trick.  I could not figure out exactly what was 
the fluid he used for the flame;  the squeeze bottle was marked merely 
"fire".  I don't think it was alcohol, this stuff had a texture more 
like mineral oil.
