Not a huge day for celebrations, but here are a few.

St. Dominic of Silos' Feast Day (1073) Patron Saint of Captives and
Shepherds; Invoked against Insects and Mad Dogs. A shepherd in the
Cantabrian mountains of Spain, he became a Benedictine priest, hermit, and
then Abbott of St. Sebastian's.  His prayers helped a noblewoman through a
difficult birth, so every Queen of Spain has kept his staff in the room
during their confinements. Dominic appeared to prisoners of war during the
long Moorish occupation, and freed them.

Setting up the Creche* - In 1223, St. Francis of Assisi created the first
nativity scene with live actors and a pageant. It became very popular
immediately, and still is today.
