[Sca-cooks] Understanding 'real' food - long

It is indeed unfortunate that the modern American has had little to no exposure to classical
cuisine, and some have gone their entire lives without ever tasting a scratch-baked or 'home made'
food item. I, too, find myself feeling at least a little bit sorry for those people, and wishing
there was something I could do to help spread the gospel of 'fresh' cooking to the world. Though
I hate to admit it, because I am not what you would call a 'TV Person', the Food Network has done
an incredible job of turning the work-a-day man or woman into an armchair cook or gastronome. I
see it in the local grocery stores almost every day...people nervously purchasing the dreaded
'ingredients', rather than the pre-made TV Dinner or Skillet Sensation. Hopefully this trend will
continue, and we can all look forward to a 'rebirth' of culinary savoir vive in this country.

Fingers crossed....
