my turn ... very easy to make, especially this late in the
season.

pecan praline puffs (settlement cookbook recipe done the
way i do it)

1 c. brown sugar
1 egg white
1 c. pecans, broken

whip egg white until stiff. add brown sugar and whip
again to get a brown sugar meringue. fold in pecans.

drop on foil lined baking sheet. should be about the size
of, well... a pecan.
bake at 375 about 15 minutes or until outsides are hard.

these cookies have a very irregular, broken appearance but
taste great.

as a matter of fact, i once made a triple batch for gifts,
and came home to find the ziplock almost empty! the
husband-monster thought (due to the broken appearance and
rather bland/brown color) they were mistakes and ergo fair
game for snacks. he (and he swears the dog) polished off
almost THREE CUPS of brown sugar in one sitting.

enjoy! but let the family foragers know that's how they
are supposed to look.

change the brown sugar to white, the pecans to shredded
coconut and the cooking time to 'golden brown and toasty'
and it's a great coconut cookie recipe. they don't look
as much like mistakes. 8) i'd like to try some maple
sugar and walnuts. bet that would be good!

cailte
