about 75% of cats have the catnip-junkie gene, tho it is 
funny when they start drooling ... ;)

try dried valerian (stinks to me, but...).  drives 'em 
craaaaaaaaazeeeeeeeeee!

catnip tea has been around for a long time as a digestive 
and calming drink.  don't know how far back, tho.
