[Sca-cooks] period mention or use of catnip?

You know, I've had more than one of my kitties literally attack me to
get to this stuff. And they are nice sweet loving kitties too. But
they become demons around this stuff. I've always been afraid of
giving it to them though for fear that it might hurt them. Have you
given it to them? And was there any harm done? (Apart from a ripped up
arm.)
