I understand...and feel the same way about my shortbread (from an old Scottish cookbook)...one part sugar to two parts butter to four parts flour.  However, the ginger in the Walker version was so unexpectedly good that I may try it the next time I make shortbread!

PS:  Good to hear from you again.  The job with the company doing software for the visually impaired has ended in a great deal of acrimony, unfortunately.  Seems the owners don't believe in acting as they talk.  They haven't paid me since mid-September...and they are doing everything in their power to wriggle out of any responsibility for their actions.  Glad to hear you're in a good place with a good lady.
