[Sca-cooks] Atkins, since it came up...

CNN ran an article (in their Law News archives) that the Atkins widow is
suing a few people/organizations for releasing medical information to the
media. The widow has attributed his pre-death weight gain to water
retention. In the article, she did state his weight as "under 200 pounds"
before being injured. I don't know much about the physiology of coma
patients, but I am prepared to accept this explanation. In the case of a
brain injury that severe, kidney or any other organ failure would only be
expected. I do know a congestive heart failure patient who gained 20 pounds
of water in 4 days because he was released from the hospital with the wrong
medication list.

No doubt we can expect to hear more on the subject.

Some people swear by Atkins. Some swear at it. The medical profession is
divided on the subject.
