The hobbits are always going on about mushrooms and sausages - plenty of 
medieval recipes for those!  There's at  least one scene where they eat coneys, 
too, so rabbit should be in.  And I seem to remember them liking sweets.  
Smeagol really likes fish, but he thinks cooking it (or any other meat), ruins it.  
Not sure if you want to do sushi or steak tartare :-)
