i have seen the odd parsnip throw folks for a loop. 8) yet one lady
used it like a sweet potato, to make a pudding. depends on the
experience level of the contestants.

if you have a basket of goods that screams 'chicken dinner', toss in
something that might go in another direction (tho i can't think of
anything that doesn't go with chicken....)

the one i liked best was where the coordinator had more of the staples
(except the chicken, of course, given whole to us) and you could have as
much more as you needed. then she allowed three things in your camp
that weren't on her list. that added an interesting difference in the
individual results. of course, wine, whiskey, beer was the obvious...
one lady had a bag of dried fruit, one groups had an assortment of
mustards (read hillshire farms xmas gift), i used constant comment tea
bags (tea eggs)... really interesting

we had one where 1 lb. of sausage was included w/ chicken and trimmings.
most everybody used it as stuffing. i mixed it with diced apple and
onion and made a sausage patty appetizer with tea eggs and apple slices.

hmmmmm... guess that is where the 'bountiful' comes in.

cailte the bountiful
(or is that depression mentality-ed?)
