We can go round and round and round on this and never get anywhere.
Somebody said the right thing (sorry someone, can't remember your name) and
I remember reading aobut it before.  It was indeed believed that hares
change their gender (ergo orientation) which they believed accounts for the
hares' prolific reproduction rate.

I do speak French and pertuiz can also be translated as sluice.  Bottom line
is this bit of information is just a little aside, a little Medieval FYI
that really has no bearing on how the hare is prepared or cooked or
ultimately tastes.
