[Sca-cooks] barbarians and educational tv shows

When I was a lowly college student, my hepetology professor "assigned" us to
watch a Learning channel show on snakes. We saw/heard so many things
incorrectly stated that I have never been able to watch educational shows
quite the same way since.

Definitley watch for pictures, new items of inrmation, interpretations, etc.
but I always check their sources (most educational shows have online
transcripts with sources and peoples' titles and info) so you can verify
what they say before you go spaouting off the "facts". And now that I work
for and with Archaeologists who have dug at Birka among other places, it is
always enlightening to hear the debates on interpretation. Nothing is ever
sacred and even *they*  lose track of the big picture once in awhile.
