The black hat bit was a bit of a joke on my part. Various hassidic
groups wear hats of various forms, often black. In fact the only black
hat I own is the Elizabethan sugarloaf hat that I wear in the SCA. I'm
not Hassidic.
As for eating, I'll eat in camp before hand and just have something to
drink.
