No, I believe that the orange carrot may be medieval. What you are
thinking of is the sweet, orange carrot, but even that appears to be a
16th C Dutch hybrid. Medieval carrots appear to have come in other
colors including red, black and white (and possibly orange) but when
the sweet orange carrot appeared, it seems to have swept the others
away. Check this file in the FOOD-VEGETABLES section of the Florilegium

Well, some of the non-orange carrots have begun to appear again but
they may be more expensive than the parsnips.
