I've just realized that I can't remember the names of any of the places we
ate when we were in GB for our honeymoon 6 years ago, except for the Monkey's
Paw, a pub we went to on our first evening in London. The girl at the desk of
our hotel across the street was somewhat appalled when she asked us where we
had dinner; she said, in a shocked voice "Wasn't it awfully greasy?". The
answer was, no. Mu husband had bangers and mash, and I had a lovely steak and ale
pie with a puff pastry crust 2 inches high.
I wish I could remember the name of the upscale restaurant we went to in
Edinburgh, as it was extremely good (Scottish venison!), but I can't.
That or the pizza place somewhere near Durham that had things like Chicken
Kiev pizzas...Of course, their American pizza was distinguished by the fact that
it had canned sweet corn on it, according to the menu.
