Saveur magazine which is that glossy nice
food magazine has an article in the latest issue that
people may find of interest.
Sweet Memory
During the holiday season, the centuries-old Romanengo,
the most famous and beloved confectionery in Genoa, becomes a
veritable wonderland of sugar-glazed fruits, chocolate-coated pralines,
and other delights.
By Anya Fernald
The article on pages 68-77 has recipes for a cake, almond paste cookies,
quince paste, and meringata, but it's the pictures that are worth
hunting out. They show a panning set up from the 19th century (or even
earlier) that is
still in use. Wooden marzipan molds, lots of pretty fruits etc.
It's in the Christmas issue.
