Swans on lakes here in Michigan have a profound dislike
for modern watercraft.
 From this past June---
A mute swan that attacked a personal watercraft rider on
Lake Orion over the holiday weekend may be facing a death penalty.
If one group of local homeowners has any say in the matter,
however, the swan and his nesting mate will be left alone.
They want personal watercraft riders to exercise more caution
when traveling near a nest where a female swan is tending to five
unhatched eggs.
Lake property owner Barbara Deeg said she and neighbors have seen both
young and middle-aged watercraft riders harass the swans by racing too
close to the nest or even chasing after the birds.

{In this case, they killed the male swan!
