[Sca-cooks] OT-Happy job thoughts for Stefan?

Late on Friday I was informed that I should consider the voluntary 
severance package that Freescale Semiconductor (which is being spun off 
of Motorola) has just announced. Apparently I'm inline for involuntary 
separation if they don't get the 1000 people they are wanting. I don't 
know where in that line I am. The separation package isn't that bad, 
but when its gone I'm worried about health care. I'm not sure if I will 
be able to find a regular job and the contract jobs don't come with 
health care, I don't believe.

I've been with the same company since university, which was 22 years 
ago. So I've not had to hunt for another job. I don't know whether to 
take this package or not to and take a chance. And this and the 
complications of not having a job after the severance period are 
tearing me up. Sometimes Gunthar's solution last January seems to have 
its bright points.

So I'd appreciate anyone sending good thoughts to helping me get past 
this.

Those who have been through this and found other jobs or those that are 
still struggling with this, I'd love to hear from you. How did/do you 
survive it psychologically?
