 Oops sorry when I told about the dumplings I forgot to tell you which book I got the info from (I have a nasty head ache and am not thinking clearly) The book is Food and Drink in Britain by C. Anne Wilson. The book covers what they call prehistory up to more modern periods and they cover other areas such as Ireland, Scotland and beyond. There are recipes and such through out. It's a very good book and if I can find it I would like to buy it but it looks like it is a rather old book (I got it through inter-library loan from a college library)
