Americans use canned beets pretty commonly, but like many foods the 
canned ones have almost no relation to the real thing, cooked freshly.

Beets are one of my favorite foods, but my husband is so allergic to 
them that beet juice will raise a rash on his skin, so I seldom make 
them.
