[Sca-cooks] Coronation Laurels

It was a wonderful, crazy day, and much of it slipped through my
shock-dazed brain.

Jadwiga's elevation was beautiful, and she was glowing with solemn joy.
She was preceded by attendants scattering rose petals and fragrant
herbs. Her regalia included a full-length apron instead of a cloak,
appliqued with a laurel wreath and a rabbit (the primary charge on her
arms). Regretably, the court was held in a high school gym, and the
accoustics were dreadful. I could not hear most of the ceremony.

My summons came as a complete surprise. While my head was still
spinning, Baroness Paigan and Baroness Merlinia grabbed my arms, and led
me to a classroom that had been set up as my vigil tent. The
sideboard.... oh, my! Most of it was done by Lady Elizabetta, new
member of the list (though not new to cooking). There were all kinds of
delights, both sweet and savory. I saw poppyseed cake, orange cake,
bizcochos, meatballs, salmon-cheese pie, and much more. There were
radish mice and sausage cattails. Phlip brought a large batch of
shortbread, which she baked at my house under my guidance. She said it
was a homeowrk assignment for Master Adamantius. There were also
candied ginger from Johnnae, and my arms in marzipan, beautifully
rendered by Lady Olwen the Odd. And there were messages of goodwill
from friends near and far.

The regalia and scroll were all beautiful, and were the handiwork of
many talented friends. I will be putting up some photos when I get a
chance. I'll also be bringing some of the leftovers to Emmaus Fair.

It was a wonderful day, made even more special by the talents and
kindness of many friends. Jadwiga's well-deserved elevation was a
joyous event, and I was honored to share the day with her.

Thank you to all my dear friends who conspired to make my day
memorable. Thank you also to the many list members who have taught me,
encouraged me, inspired me, and pushed me to grow.
