Actually, the gauge of the gun isn't particularly important, unless you're
going to extremes- I wouldn't hunt a dove with a 10 guage goose gun, or a
migrating goose with a .410, but I used to do all my hunting with a 12
gauge, until it got burned up in a house fire, and I got a good deal on my
20 gauge. Will likely go back to a 12 gauge, likely a Mossberg with the
changeable barrels, when I can combine finding one with the money to buy one
;-)

You can introduce a lot of variables just balancing the degree of choke and
the ammunition you buy, and you can upload and download even more when you
reload your own ammo, as I used to do. It really depends on how much you
want to get into the sport. Just realize, that no matter what you intend to
hunt and load for, you'll have the wrong ammo in your gun if you're allowed
to shoot at a variety of targets ;-)

Well, I'm sure you could have brought home a few of them and had them for
dinner, although they're a bit high fiber, for my tastes ;-)

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is probably not a
cat.
