I am a bit cinfused I recieved the recipe at an SCA feast and it is not the first time I have seen included in feast. Historically speaking there were potatoes in Europe in the 1500's. I do like the idea of the Losyns with the chicken.

thanks

Lettuce and spinach are period greens, and they make a good salad with
some sliced cucumber, slivered almonds, etc. I'd probably combine the
first and second removes and skip the celery and carrots. I'm uncertain
as to whether balsamic vinegar is period at all or period for salad, but
personally I'd probably go for plain wine or cider vinegar.

I'd probably keep the chickens and lose the potatoes. Roast spuds are
blatantly non-period, and there are plenty of other options. I'd tend
to go for lozyns or some other easy dish.

I don't have my recipes handy, but try googling beef y-stwed.

Jumbals are no more difficult to make than shortbread and the shaping is
fun :-)

I think that this looks like a nice, simple menu, and I don't think it
should be too complex for most teens, assuming that they at least boil
water at home.
