my husband's grandfather used to love that stuff in the 
syrup, and he originally gave me the settlement cookbook 
when connor and i got married.  grandfather said his wife 
got one when they married and it saved his life a number 
of times. ;)

i was also considering that it might be that exact same 
candied, syrupy almost ginger.  heck, after 4 lbs. of 
sugar, what's a little syrup?
