Makes 2 dozen

5 C flour
1 C packed light brown sugar
2 TB baking powder
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp allspice
1 C vegetable shortening
2 C roasted, mashed and cooled sweet potatoes
1 C heavy cream
1/2 C coarsely chopped pecans

Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, spices. Cut in shortening. Add  
sweet potatoes and mix with wooden spoon. Add cream and pecans and  
stir until just moistened. Roll out dough 1 1/2 inch thick on lightly  
floured surface.. Cut with 2 inch floured biscuit cutter. Place 1  
inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees 25-30  
minutes.
