Now, before someone flames me for this comment, all I ask is that you take a peek at what
Disneyland *used* to be (before the horrific transformation into an over-priced ego-trip), and
maybe take a gander over the back fence of my childhood home in Bakersfield, California (where you
will see the largest, most fruitful Lemon, Grapefruit and Orange trees you are likely to find
anywhere). Lemons may have gotten their start in China and the Orient, but baby....you should see
how they flourish in my neck of the woods!

As for Lemons in the UK, here's a bit of information from the Global Orange Groves UK website,
which offers up a variety of lemon trees for mail-order purchase from their nursery in Dorset,
which *seems* to indicate that, at least in modern times, lemons have no trouble at all growing in
England... here are a few they offer:

    Lemon Trees

Verna Lemon (Citrus limon / citrange troyer)
This variety of citrus tree is very vigorous, with few thorns. The fruits are large and the
fluorescent colour is more pronounced at the ends of the lemons. The skin is thick and the fruit
holds a great quantity of juice. There are a few seeds. This lemon tree will normally fruit twice
a year, but may produce a third crop of lemons if fed correctly giving an almost continuos supply
of lemons.

Fino Lemon (Citrus limon / citrange troyer)
This variety of lemon tree is vigorous and produces large thorns which can be removed. The lemon
fruit is inferior to the Verna lemon and slightly smaller with less juice, but the juice is of
very high quality and high acidity. There is a medium quantity of seeds. This variety normally
fruits twice a year, outcropping other varieties on lemon trees.

Eureka Lemon (Citrus limon / citrange troyer)
A vigorous lemon tree with few thorns. The fruit is of a very good size. It has an excellent
quantity of very high quality juice and few seeds. The tree is highly productive. The main crop is
harvested from October to February but the tree will produce various sizes of fruit during The
rest of the year giving an almost continuous supply of lemons.

Villafranca Lemon (Citrus limon / citrange troyer)
A very vigorous variety but thorny in the early years. The fruit is of a very good size. It has an
excellent quantity of very high quality juice and few seeds. This lemon tree is highly productive.
The tree will produce four crops a year of various sizes of fruit giving an almost continuos
supply of lemons.
