I think you will find Asian pumpkins are all genus Cucurbita and thus New 
World in origin.  There is some argument about when and how they arrived in 
Asia, but I tend to find many of the diffusionist arguments highly 
questionable.

The most accurate vegetable is one from genus Lagenaria, the bottle gourds.
