I'm going to agree with the essential mint oil. I have a huge anthill in 
my yard that I have been trying to exterminate for three years now. I 
sprinkled peppermint oil on the outside and inside of all my 
windowsills. The little creatures take the oil back to the nest where it 
will eventually kill them all. It's toxic to them. Haven't seen one 
since I did this, plus it's safe to use when you have pets and children. 
Just make sure you do it when you know the weather will be dry for a few 
days.
