[Sca-cooks] Verjuice grape question?

OK.  I'll bite and show my ignorance.  Is it a correct assumption that period grapes were green, not purple/red, seeded, of course, and probably on the smallish side?  Do we know if they were sourer than modern grapes?

Concord grapes are a cultivated variety of Vitis labrusca, the fox grape. 
They originate in the Eqastern US and have purplish-black berries when ripe.
