Hi Bear!

I have that edition also, but in the 26th printing (1987). And while the basic work matches
what you wrote, the supplement adds two more entries, bringing the date to 1807. So
they still didn't have Hannah Glasse in 1987.

What I used was OED Online, to which I subscribe. I believe that Oxford U. Press is planning
on publishing a new edition whenever it finishs its work in updating the dictionary. The
OED Online gets quarterly updates, so the Online "edition" is the latest, most up-to-date
version.

I think that this shows that using older editions of the OED can produce the occasional erroneous
result. In the 12 years between your printing and my printing, OED found two earlier
references to the term "poundcake". And in the 28 years between my printing and the Online
edition, they found the Hannah Glasse reference. So before one decides to write to the OED
and tell them of their "errors", one needs to search through more recent editions/printings
to make sure that they haven't already corrected themselves, as happened in this case.
