Indeed, they were 5 huge sacks (clear industrial size bags).I am, of
course, guessing at the weight. :) I asked the local Panera Bread
Company if they would be willing to donate their leftover bread, and
they readily and happily agreed. They give it to non-profits or they
throw it out. They use no preservatives in their bread, so they sell it
that day or get rid of it. They (and the other local bread companies)
make scheduled drops to the local agencies providing food, but they
still have a few days each week when the bread will not be used. It
certainly is not all period. A lot of that went out for breakfast.
Anyway, I picked up their bread from Thursday. Anything likely to go bad
or become a baseball bat too quickly was served for Traveler's Fare on
Friday. The good, periodish loaves were held in the fridge for feast and
reheated (I think).

I picked up the giant bags from Panera and loaded them in my car. Filled
the whole CRV. Unloaded them into my house. Loaded them into someone
elses van. She was smart enough to look at the bags and say "sorry, I
can only pick up the light one." I wasn't. About an hour later, my back
started to give out while shopping.

Nope. But, towards the end, they very kindly called me on a cell phone
and gave me a cheer. Touched me very much.

Amen!
