According to the SCA Katrina Roll Call at http://www.clanmarshinfayne.org/rollcall/ the author Robert Asprin was in a part of New Orleans that was still dry on Wednesday, but was beginning to flood.  He was was expecting to be successfully evacuated before things got dangerous.  No news since then.
