My son (great epicure that he is -- heh!) has recently started at the  
new High School for Health Professions in New York, or, as the  
students call it, HP. Apparently one day earlier this week he brought  
a bottle of HP Sauce from home, and the kids in the cafeteria were  
all dousing their dubious HP cafeteria food with HP Sauce.

I can't imagine that it did much harm...

I'm assuming that by "brown sauce" you're talking about something  
along HP lines, and not any of the plethora of French espagnole-based  
sauces known collectively in English as "brown sauce", such as  
demiglaze, bordelaise, etc.
