I just got the machine in the mail (yeah ebay) so wanted to try the basic recipe. Yummy, used vanilla instead of anise cause that's all I had.

  found this:
  Parmesan Chive Pizelle

  > 3 x eggs, lg
> 1/2 cup butter or margerine, melted
> 1 cup flour, all-purpose
> 1/4 cup cheese, parmesan, grated
> 2 teaspoon baking powder
> 3 tablespoon chives, finely snipped
> 1/2 teaspoon salt
> 1/8 teaspoon pepper, ground, red>

And like the chicken salad idea alot. Now that I have one, I will consider making them for a smaller fieast. Oh boy another new toy! Like the new pasta maker that is coming next week.

Well, if this is for a feast I'd suggest something like the
creme boyled or a custard or even mascerated fruits
with yoghurt. Something a little more period. If for
just snacking on at home then the ice cream thing is great.

Cornbread would be...interesting....
Savory cryspes or wafres (pizzelles) were both sweet and savory.
Rarely filled but often sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
Often they were made with red wine and cheese.
There are illustrations of wafres in elaborate serving bowls
at period feasts.

Lots of fun stuff. Make savory ones and fill with chicken salad.
