[Sca-cooks] Which KitchenAid?

 From my experience, I can say unquestionably that KitchenAid = Good. 

My mother had one that she got as a wedding present nearly 40 years ago and 
the only reason that she had to get a new one was that the flanges that held 
the bowl in place gave out from mixing too much Lebkuchen batter over the 
years. 

Try to get the one with the 5-quart mixing bowl if you can.  The 4.5-quart 
one I have is sometimes a little small. 

I would avoid the massive model with the big brackets that hold the bowl in 
place (get one where the bowl twists into the base).  The only way that you 
can scrape the bowl or remove the bowl on the big model is to remove the 
mixing paddle and take the bowl out completely.  I have friends that have 
that one and say it's a pain in the butt to use. 

As far as attachments, I have the grinder/slicer attachment but have only 
used it a couple of times.  I'm hoping Santa-Mom will get me the pasta 
roller attachment for Christmas!
