Heartworms aren't transmitted in undercooked meat.  They are a filarial 
nematode worm (Dirofilaria immitis) transmitted by the bite of blood sucking 
insects.

Trichinella spiralis is a nematode roundworm that infests by ingestion.

Other nematode parasites include pinworms and hookworms.
