Aislinn mentioned:
<<< Ok, speaking of different cultures' food, I have made friends
recently with
a woman from Pakistan. Pakistan was northern India during the Middle
Ages and up to about 60 yrs. ago, right? >>>

Yes, although they are continuing to fight over just how much of that
area is India and how much is Pakistan. In period though, as in
Europe, it was a conglomeration of different kingdoms and political
entities. One of the things the British did, at least on the surface,
was to gradually unify all those separate countries into one country.

<<< She is amused by the fact I am very
interested in learning about the food of her culture, and she said
she will
teach me how she makes roti (chapati) and some rice dishes very soon.
Are
there any medieval manuscripts for her area of the world I can introduce
her to? >>>

We recently had a discussion on the Moghul empire which was composed
of a large section of India during the latter part of period. I have
yet to create a Florilegium file using that discussion, though. I
think it had discussion of at least one manuscript. Request it and
I'll send you my rough file or I'll finish it up on get it online.
