I have been meaning to mention a couple of new books that
I've come across recently. Both deal with either organic or
community farms.

The larger of the two is Farmer John's Cookbook. The Real Dirt on
Vegetables. Seasonal Recipes and Stories from a Community Supported
Farm by Farmer John Peterson and Angelic Organics. 2006
http://www.gibbs-smith.com/

For those of you getting vegetables and produce through a purchased share,
this may be the book for you. The farm is in the Chicago area and the
book is
arranged by when the produce becomes available during the growing season.
Storage, handling and recipes are included for everything that comes in
those
produce boxes.By the way this is companion book to the new documentary
"The Real Dirt on Farmer John" (directed by Taggart Siegel). It's being
released on dvd this
summer. http://www.therealdirt.net/

The small organic farm is examined in the second book. It's titled
It's a Long way to a Tomato. Tales of an Organic Farmer Who Quit the Big
City for the (Not So) Simple Life by Keith Stewart. New York: Marlowe &
Co., 2006.
http://www.marlowepub.com/

The title says it all. Stewart quit the city for a small farm in upstate
New York and gradually
has built a business growing produce for NYCity's Union Square Greenmarket.

For those wanting more on the big organic picture, you might want to
